In 1907, Eugene Corri becomes 1st referee in a boxing ring

In 1937, Red Sox acquire the contract of 19-year-old Ted Williams from the San Diego Padres of the Pacific Coast League.  He signs a two-year contract worth $7,000.

In 1990, Atlanta Braves Owner Ted Turner & Jane Fonda announce their engagement

In 1995,  NBA settles strike of referees over pay, referees to return on December 12.
